Founder & Managing Director
Pete’s background prior to establishing Number 8 , was entirely residential construction. He established and operated a successful high end residential construction business in Auckland New Zealand for 15 years, but moved to the UK to head up a new venture construction business. Between 2002 and 2008 Pete was in charge of the day to day build operations on both development and contract projects.
As Group Managing Director he is responsible for overseeing all day to day operations as well as the ongoing expansion of the group’s activities.
Founder
Although Zinzan is not involved in the business on a day to day basis, the "leave nothing on the field" ethos he demonstrated as one of New Zealands greatest rugby players, is at the very core of how the business was established and how it operates today.
Financial Controller
As the company's Financial Controller, Michael assumes responsibility for two very important aspects of our business. The weekly payroll function and the “money”. Michael brings a wealth of experience to the role with over 30 years looking after the books of various companies with connections to both construction and recruitment agencies. Unfortunately there is often a dark side and Michaels long term support for Brentford FC is an indication that the attention to detail he demonstrates on a day to day basis, has not always been evident in his decision making in the past.
Trades & Labour Manager
Si has total responsibility for the management of the heartbeat of our business. One of the key ingredients for this role is being able to deal with issues when they arise and in this arena they tend to be relatively commonplace. However Si is virtually unflappable and uses his combination of charm, wit and a genuine appreciation of how these issues can affect our clients operation, to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.
Credit Control
Siobhan has the unenviable job of chasing our valuable clients for money. However she has managed to establish very good relationships with all the accounts departments we deal with and with a dash of understanding and a particularly friendly approach seems to be able to convince them we deserve to be paid. She has also assumed an unofficial role of office Mum for the younger members of staff who often seek her misguided advice a on a wide range of life issues. To date Siobhan’s greatest accomplishment has been to take the winners prize in the company cooking competition. This was an unexpected victory especially by Siobhan’s husband.
Trades & Labour
Cosmin has been literally plucked from the coal face as a demolition operative working out assignments with our clients. After realising he preferred a warm clean office to a cold dusty demo site he joined our trades & labour team and has a vital role placing large numbers of CCDO demolition operatives. Not the least of his many hidden talents is his ability to speak 4-5 languages fluently including his native Romanian. With large numbers of Romanian workers now looking for construction work, Cos has a vital role in communicating and ensuring that all the required information and expectations are understood.
Consultant - Contracting Division
James brings a wealth of practical construction and project management experience to a role that requires broad knowledge but more importantly an understanding of what good candidates look like. His built in hunger for knowledge is useful with the massive range of roles the Contractor Team recruit for every day. James has many interests outside the office including an unhealthy passion for English Rugby. We hope over time his exposure to alternatives will reduce this obsession to more appropriate level.
Office Administrator
Miranda has assumed the unenviable role as office Fixer and administration guru. Her relaxed Kiwi "can do" attitude is the perfect core ingredient required to ensure Number 8 continues to function as a highly tuned machine while cleverly masking the minor, however occasionally disfuctional "older components" that make up sections of our established team.
